Five Things To Remember Oct. 2

1. The annual fall General Assembly of the USCCB will be November 11-14, at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott Hotel. During the meeting, the bishops will hear addresses by Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York, president of USCCB, and Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, apostolic nuncio to the United States. Read about the meeting's agenda.

2. Catholic News Service reports from Vatican City that "Pope Francis and his eight cardinal advisers on church governance spent much of their first day together discussing reform of the Synod of Bishops," and more.

3. Bishop John Wester blogged about the problems of the disposable culture that Pope Francis has spotlighted during his papacy.

4. With the announcement earlier this week that Blessed John Paul II will be canonized April 27, it's a great time to look back at his visits to the U.S.

5. God loves you.
